That was a sound bloodbath today I guess; are we headed down to 75-90 range again, before we move to 200? I think both are likely; the downdraft looks first in the queue however. Any one knows any other oncoming news? Is it doing some grand acquisitions etc. in the near future? There was a talk/rumor once that it may acquire MRVC ? Any basis for that? I guess Fidelity, ML, SSB, Prudential all must have lightened up already on this baby- it gave them enough window around 140 ... and smaller houses are there now, who might be holding the bag for a while, no? Looks unlikely, but -8 bucks sucked-out of INTC in one day ... what to make of it? This can't be just based on the existing facts ... I suspect some major moves! Please enlighten - the genious folks on this board!

regards to all,
-/Sonny.

Mary, re:I hope I'm wrong about this and hope everything gets straightened tomorrow

Hang in there! Kurlak won't be able to keep this up ad naseum without the investors, Wall Street, and his employer finally getting wise. It's clear you understand the fundamentals behind Intel and the PC market. Anyone with cash should buy more Intel at this new dip.

AMD will fall and not get up, unless they can start executing and compete with something other than price.

This is a temporary aberration. I stopped worrying about TK back in the summer.

Greg.

Kurlak might be identified as a Contra-Indicator. Someone should perform a study of his statements for 1997 & 1998. The study should look like this:

INTEL UPGRADES
Date......Intel Price 1 week prior to upgrade.
----------------Price 1 day after upgrade.
----------------Price 1 month after upgrade.
----------------Price 2 months after upgrade.
----------------Price 4 months after upgrade.
and

INTEL DOWNGRADES
Date......Intel Price 1 week prior to downgrade.
----------------Price 1 day after downgrade.
----------------Price 1 month after downgrade.
----------------Price 2 months after downgrade.
----------------Price 4 months after upgrade.

If I had the resources, I do it myself.

Just food for thought,

Mike Gordon

Mary and All,
Today we heard Jerry yell "UNCLE" as he through in the towel. The question now is whether Kurlak will have the guts to reverse his earnings estimate now that it appears that the price war is about to end.

By the end of the day, I had bought Intel Calls based on my belief that this was yet one more example of the market over reacting to Tom's erroneous analysis. Tom should have taken into account that Intel surely would have built into its forecast a price adjustment when they put the world on notice that they would aggressively take back low end market share. This was clearly stated during the most recent conference call, when at the same time Intel averred that margins would increase this year. With lower manufacturing costs than AMD's and without AMD having significant product differentiation, Intel has to eventually be the winner.

What amazes me is that Kulak still has this kind of influence on the Market, as demonstrated by Intel's 8 + point drop. However, after years of watching Tom's shenanigans I have hopefully learned how to profit from them.
