Neocon, before going full-bore into the abortion debate, which I will do with reluctance, would you like to comment on other ways besides new law of reducing (no, not eliminating) abortion? At some point in past debates, I think we had some agreement here that better birth control and sex education would likely lead to fewer abortions, which would be good. Sex education is another contentious issue, though, if it's not of the "just say no" variant. And the "just say no" variant has some problems in terms of encouraging better contraception.

This is one area where I have real sympathy for George Bush. Wilbur Mills, of Tidal Basin Bombshell fame, gave Bush the nickname "rubbers" because of his early interest in birth control issues in Congress. He couldn't backpedal fast and far enough as President to please the right wing, no matter how hard he tried. Maybe GWB will do better with the RR, we'll see.
