Not really, but it sure is a hot technology. Products seem to have been recieving good press, stock has moved irrespective of rumors I think so maybe they will be good. Good luck! tim

Well, if Mr. Nettles (Ciena CEO) is to believed, here's what he had to say about this at last qtr's report. I read this as don't expect anything in the way of earnings until at least the last 1/2 of 1999, and probably not even then. Why? Because Ciena is going for market share now at the expense of short term profit.

"Pursuit of our strategy to preserve and enhance our market leadership, combined with continued investment in selling, marketing and customer service activities, as well as in ongoing product development, will likely limit our operating profitability during at least the first half of fiscal 1999 and may result in near-term operating losses," Nettles concluded. "We firmly believe that successfully securing footprint and market share now will better position CIENA for longer-term growth."
