Well, Tim, as a practicing vegetarian, I must disagree (red meat is for wimps who can't eat peppers!). The problem with ulcers is that they are caused by a bacterial infection. In any case, your stomach is extremely acid (pH down around 1.0) which is the pH that stomach enzymes need to work.

The intestines are alkaline because of the substances the liver injects. And it needs to be slightly alkaline in order for the intestinal enzymes (like trypsin and lipases) to work.

Enough biochemistry. Eat hot peppers. Capsaicin is good for whatever ails you. I read that an Italian doctor was administering the stuff nasally for treatment of migraines!

Australopithecus is our next Ape
Observe his almost human shape
But Leakey and Montagu each agree
He doesn't belong in our family tree

Still he looks so handsome there
Gazing off with a manlike air
And we've gone to such heavy expense
To present this scene in his defense
That we could never throw him out
Tho we're not sure what he's all about

Putting such facts together, most authorities have concluded that the australopithecines show too any specialized and apelike characteristics to be either the direct ancestors of man or the line that led to man Page 52: Man, His First Million Years by Ashley Montagu.

If every house a maker has
Does not a tree or blade of grass
Or butterfly or crimson flower
Disclose a Supernatural Power?
Who paints the sunsets, raises mountains
Waters Earth with living fountains
Who flings the stars and scents the breeze
With soft perfume from fruited trees
All shout in praise their Maker's fame
Jehovah, God of Hosts, His Name

Now do not steal this Name, so grand
From all the wonders of his hand
Whose loving gift to you and me
An everlasting destiny!

From my poem, "Museum." Actually man has an extraterrestrial ancestor.
