Welcome aboard Thomas. Your timing's certainly good but not quite up to Factfinder's who's been into this company for a couple of years!

I see you're covering a few bases in the EBPP niche with positions in both Emergis and CheckFree. Perhaps you read The Gorilla Game? (hope I got the reference right, I haven't read it myself).

As for a possible marriage, Emergis is looking for U.S. acquisitions and partnerships I'm sure. On the other hand, Emergis does have some pretty big name U.S. e-com clients already including NationsBank-BankAmerica, Chrysler, Dell, and Freddie Mac.

And now of course the new partnership with Microsoft.

Interested in knowing how you found out about BCE Emergis.

>>Checkfree (CKFR on Nasdaq), which has the lead in Internet billing in the US, I believe. Does anyone see a possible marriage here?
NO, they are a competitor to Transpoint. Checkfree is probably the first to have e-bill but Transpoint is coming on strong.

Did you notice the names who were in this competition as stated in earlier post by Richard in the Financial Post. I picked up a tidbit at the ASM that it was felt it was down to the wire between IBM(mainframe) and Emergis(windows NT). CKFR not a threat. Of course these are just opinions stated at the time.

Anyway this is a major win and will reflect on future earnings. The US acquisition may not even be in e-bill sector, could be EDI, will have to wait for that one. If it is e-bill, should be compatible with Transpoint.IMHO
