Hi

Acceptance by the boxmaker does not necessarily mean that the end user sees it the same way.

AMD does have a present pricing advantage in the tight low end market place, however price alone only makes up part of the value equation.

Much has been posted on the battle being joined by Intel and Dell into that arena. I suppose that Intel could very easily compete pricewise. It is apparent that no one is going to make much money by depreciating their profit potential, prices should rise to a level that will be more comfortable for the players in that area. Right now I don't think Dell and Intel expect to make much money in that end of the market.

Of course Intel and Dell really had not been in that playpen.Obviously they decided it was time to move forward in that so called lower end market. This seems to be a defensive move that needed to be made. Brand identification and education are important to the total package. Apparently their presence in that market place has become a necessity. One can not allow one's competitors to gain a foothold in the mind of the buyer can one? :)

Intel will make the necessary accommodations to protect market (and increase market share). There is sufficient evidence to indicate that Intel will do well by Dell.

Kind of get the feeling that MD is more comfortable dealing with Intel's management and products. Let's say it has been a good business decision. The synergy doesn't seem to be there, at present, with AMD.

I wonder if something more will come out of the close relationship Dell and Intel enjoy!:)

Gateway interests me. I like the way they are moving forward as a company. No doubt they have gotten their direct show on the road and so far rather successfully. Wonder how this will play out, lets say a year from now?

Regards,
