I used to live in Central Illinois. Not the best or worst place in the world to make money. I know how you feel about leaving your wife with a bundle. I'd like to leave my wife with a bundle now. But my advice is get her involved in your investment activity. She's likely to have to manage by herself when you croak, and she probably will live much longer than you and you don't want her looking for some dude on SI to help her invest your money. If you believe that your wife would rather have money for a lifestyle than you, its easily arranged. It's called life insurance. By the way, have you checked out universal life? I guarantee you two will be much happier if you share the basic investment decisions. You may not know what your wife really wants from life. I have no idea what my wife wants.
