my take on things:

i only have about 10 minutes so this will be to the point. thanks for all the pm's... i'll address things here on the thread:

many of you know i've been in and out of nn since 93. it *WAS* 9% of the portfolio yesterday- today less..... you also know i'm not a cheerleader and have been very critical in the past. that said.....

the truth is, if not for bad karma (the global econonmic situation), this would be the VERY long awaited blowout qtr that i (and analysts) have been no-so-patiently waiting for the past 3 years. 45% seq wan packet growth from these run levels......... that is huge- remarkable. do the math- it's close to 200% annualized rate of growth. the only issue @ this point for me is whether this was an aberration or the start of a trend. if the trend is ANYWHERE near this, then nn has finally arrived.

you don't buy nn for the old tdm biz and neither would a suitor to those of you who own nn for a takeover play. their 36170 growth inthe qtr will raise eyebrows throughout the industry.

they thought they could make up for the tdm biz with the atm but couldn't get it out the door. they screwed up by not guiding us (analysts/ port managers) lower as jan progressed. that was dumb and blindsided us which pisses me off. but... i can't ignore the tremendous growth on the packet side. if the market takes nn to the wood shed, i will be looking to increase its weighting to the 15% area as i've alluded to b4. my basis is 20.5 this go around (as i posted) so i'm ok. if latin amer and asia/pacific hadn't fallen out of bed, this would be the breakout qtr and the stock would be heading to 50.

i have a lot more to add but i am out the door so that's it for now. to the person who said that their conf calls usually just have canadien analysts........ what? wrong. all the majors have been there since i started with nn in 93. oh, to the same person, their fiscal year ends in april.

not an endorsement, just my take.

all imo only....nick
