dale sinor: ETrade has two columns for margin variance, one for long positions and one for short positions...some "internuts" vary. Of course, if you can get through and make a trade. Unfortunately for me (stupidly) I put in a limit order at the start of the last half hour yesterday. It should have filled ASAP. I did not find out it was filled until this AM. That was buy looking at my finally updated account records. I still have not received a "trade confirmation". I should have listened to my first inclination and not used ETrade yesterday. And of course, the trade has moved against me...beyond my stop loss. I could not use my usual "bail at the first sign of trouble" method of operation. I may be looking at my first significant loss for the past six months. Damn E*Trade....on hold this AM since 8am EST. I hope I get through before the Market opens!
