You are not equating the fact that approx. 50% of the fiber cable that has been laid..."dark fiber" has been sold to GTE, MCI Worldcom etc.

This money has been worked into the equation.

This could be incorrect, however, I recvd. the info. from a very informed QWST employee.

Regards,

jason

"Conduit of burial"

I'm missing you Jerry...the conduits are buried beneath the tracks. Inside the conduits are the fiber cables.

Why are you so surprised??

Phil owns the rights of way...designed his own locomotive to bury the conduit and lay the cable, his costs are:

Labor
fiber cable (from lucent)
relays (situated every so often to boost the signal)

Do you underestimate the cost of the fiber that has been leased/sold??

We are talking big bucks!! After the sale/lease of this fiber, Phil's total cost per mile is said to be $100.00.

Not too bad...just think...when we're done we will have a multi-billion dollar assett on our hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
