Harold -- Just read your "Statistical Modeling" analysis on COMS and its prospects. Man, lift your nose from your spreadsheets and take some time to learn about the networking industry, and what exactly 3Com does for a living. I'd be surprised if you can tell me what exactly 3Com does. You canNOT make wise investments in this industry without looking beyond your favorite number: EPS.

Try getting beyond your theoretical analysis and try thinking about these points:

1. 70% + of COMS revenue mix comprised of low-end, commodity products subject to huge pricing pressure/wars.

2. No carrier presence -- do you even know what the next big market for networking companies is? Do you even know if 3Com is positioned to take advantage?

3. Does 3Com have the direct sales force model in place to play in future high growth markets? And no, I'm not talking about data-only networking.

I could go on and on. Another thing ... John Chambers may be a salesman, but Cisco is a lot more than hype. Do you actually look at ALL of the numbers behind that company? Street places a premium on CSCO for a very good reason.

Finally, I wouldn't brag so much about "Operations Management" in the defense industry. The defense industry wasn't (notice past tense) the poster child for operational efficiency -- better described as plain ole bureaucratic, ancient-styled inefficiency that managed to produce something despite being overbloated with tax dollars, too many people, etc.

You may be qualified to speak about certain things, but I'm thinking more along the lines of how not to run a business.

Harold --

"The fundamentals of 3com are intact...anyone who has taken a course in Managerial Accounting will attest to such! The company is viable, and has the potential to reach into the 100-110/share within the next 3yrs. The Management structure of 3com is strong with the exception of Mr. Eric. He is the only negative aspect of 3com and the mkt is relating that...!"

Again .. your Managerial Accounting classes don't mean squat if you don't understand the networking industry. And by the way, Eric B. is the reason 3Com is not a faint memory. You have no background or knowledge of 3Com and how Eric B. basically reinvented the company when it was almost belly-up ... or did you know that 3Com used to be in the NOS (Network Operating System .. for your benefit) market?

You must be one frustrated retired guy to be so darn grumpy! In between insults toward 3COm management and insults toward posters that don't live up to you so called "high educational standards" ... I can't find too much nice to say about you.

From an investor perspective ... you must be grumpy because of the stocks .. AMD, COMS you are long on .... Take your nose out of your backyard foxhole (love all the military analogies) and do some REAL research!
