MZUBOZ, I think you have something here. This is one of the reasons that JMAR had a good and not great year in 1998. The precision instruments division which had a long string of increases year to year, hit a speed bump in 1998 caused by the Asian crisis (actually it started in late 1997), especially as it hit the Hard Drive industry that JMAR was taking a big foothold in. I especially liked this line:

The disk drive industry is coming out of a six-quarter slump in which disk drive makers were mired in a glut of inventory and
got whacked by the Asian economic crisis.

If we see another big order for disk drive equipment for JMAR soon, it would be a major positive for JMAR. Then 1999 would look better than my previous estimates. Add in a positive Semiconductor division, and we are looking at some good numbers ahead.

MZUBOZ, I believe that Quantum is a customer of JMAR. As is Seagate, IBM and Intel. I hope that this harddrive boomlet will be felt by JMAR soon.

Looks like Seagate is doing well also:
Jan 12, 1999

Stephen Luczo, Seagate's President and Chief Executive Officer said, "We had an excellent quarter with strong revenue growth and improving gross and operating margins in the disc drive, tape and software businesses. The Company's total revenue for the quarter represented a 16% increase over the prior quarter, with gross margins of 23.8%, up 3.1 percentage points from the prior quarter.
