Mark, Cook is a great name for a burger chef. <G>

I have often drawn parallels between 1929 and 1999 and 1974 and 1999. I think this is more like 1929. We have excessive credit growth and the US is the last economy to fall. We have Joe Sixpack buying stocks and borrowing to do so. We have idiots running the banks. O.K., we always have idiots running the banks. But they are braver than usual in finding stupid ways to lose money. The Fed is in the hands of a guy who wants to be Wall Street's hero. We are seeing a total disconnect between the falling eps growth of cos. and their stock prices. We are hearing more "new era" crap, just like in the 1920s. And we are without military threats to our continued prosperity.

We have a President who makes Hoover look like a brainiac. We will soon have Clintonvilles constructed around the country. <G>

Unlike the 1920s, we have no savings and no productivity growth. And, we are a debtor nation.
