PAIR stands out as a good mid-term bet regardless of a forthcoming bid or merger for the company. If the stock is a good value relative to its peers, it remains a company that needs to prove its ability to deliver rising margins, higher demand for ADSL products and some "spice" and that 's where you get a decent multiple. If you can't wait for the company to deliver, well, you are probably going to leave some dough on the table. One thing to note,if a buyer materializes it will probably be a company with rich valuation. I believe most tech stocks will continue next week to head down. AS a buyer, would I want to dilute my stock when the market is tanking? Can I commit to an all cash offer if my source of capital from the equity markets may get severely constrained? My guess: a deal on all stock basis may be more forthcoming. AS a guess I would say next week or next fall. In conclusion it always pays to know the buyer...
