Certainly agree with you that yhoo's growth rate is not assured(infact I will be surprised if it at all comes even close to msft's growth rate year after year). I only took exception to your remark about P/E only based on earnings and your discount of growth rate as an important factor in determining the price of a stock.

Just as an aside, I didn't use to think that I noticed banner ad's either, until yesterday when I saw Victoria's Secret banners all over the place(noticed them on search engines as well as on WSJ interactive etc.). So maybe I did notice them all along anyway, just never thought twice about 'em(that is until yesterday!).
