Exactly right. A boot manager can keep its own table and then
load and execute the code in any boot sector. But ..

BUT it also has to know a little about the OS. For instance,
it has to know what kinds of file systems the OS can see,
so it can unhide those. It wouldn't do to boot DOS from
a partition that was hidden from DOS, for instance. A real
false paw ...
