Terry, you are begging the question, because you leave out the fact that the unborn child also has rights. Which are "recognized." You get around that by saying that the rights of the unborn child are "assumptive" and "unproven," and "currently a matter of speculation," when what you really mean is that they are "inconvenient."

I wonder if you believe it is moral to strangle a new born child, which has drawn a breath of air, and started crying?

Is it moral to strangle a new born child which has not yet drawn a breath of air?

Is it moral to perform a caesarean section on a woman who is in labor, and strangle the child in her womb?

Is it moral to abort a healthy child in the womb of a healthy mother at nine-months gestation?

Are we on a slippery slope here?

How do you draw the line?

FT,
I think the assumptive right is the woman's right to privacy that the supreme court's decision to make abortion legal is based on. Natural law dictates that the female in any species does not have a right to not raise a "child" except in the case of a natural loss of the child. It is only because we have these big brains and the ability to tamper with the natural order of things that this is an issue. Abortion is unnatural, nature teaches us that. Abortion cannot be confused with the bodies natural purging of a fetus. Abortion is artificial. Human Life is sacred and abortion is the ending of a life by unnatural means therefore unjustifiable.
