TO ZEEV AND ALL:

LEV was most emphatic about the dangers of cobalt, especially in larger batteries, and implied that was reason for abandoning cobalt
in favor on Mn (manganese)

I took a tape recorder, but they wouldn't allow it!

P.S.

<I was criticizing the person reporting that Lev was claiming unusual "dangers" with cobalt, which I am almost sure Lev would not do>

Off the mark again chump, cobalt and all the attending dangers were fully discussed. Valence uses cobalt in it's applications with the military where safety issues are not an issue. Manganese is the choice for the general public where safety is paramount (UL).

You better go study the patents again that you so confidently dismissed. And for your new found darling "Ultralife" you better check the baggage!

I did not twist your words, Zeev.

Lev did discuss at length the dangers associated
with the Cobalt cathode batteries. He discussed
the fact that those batteries need 4 different
safety mechanism to prevent explosion or other
dangers should the battery malfunction and
overheat or build up too excessive voltage, etc.
Pls don't ask for the details, I skipped physics
and the only math i know is boolean algebra.

Lev asserted that because of the inherent instability
and dangers associated with Cobalt in the battery,
and need to build in safety mechanisms, that larger,
laptop sized batteries cannot be made from that
technology.

The only other battery maker to my knowledge who
has ever claimed to be making large li-poly batteries
is LITH, which licensed VLNC's technology, so I
know of no fact which indicates that he may be
wrong in this assertion.
