Feb. 24, 1999: Shares of Option Care, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTN), a provider of home care services and products, surged $1.15625 (82%) Wednesday to close at $2.5625 after a little-known (we thought) web site called "FastTrades" (www.fasttrade.bizhosting.com/) recommended OPTN shares. FastTrades claims to highlight low-volume stocks boasting strong fundamentals that it believes are poised for significant short-term gains. Option Care was trading about about $1.41 before the recommendation and jumped to as high as $5.875 almost immediately after the pick, before quickly plunging back to below $3. It appears most difficult to attempt to purchase the picks suggested by this site at a reasonable price immediately after they are released. You could lose beaucoup bucks if you're not careful.
