First. Intels declaration is not news. AMD has been @ war with Intel for the last 15 years. During that time AMD has grown stronger and a more formittable foe. True Intel has grown faster than AMD but its growth and size has not effectivly been used to force AMd to the point of surrender, for that matter intel has lost the battle of attrition. As a smaller more agile competitor AMD has managed to ... continued in next post

Barett has comitted a strategic error, a costly error, temporary descructive to both sides as indicated by the price declines in both intel and amd. Barett's decision is politicaly unpopular, he will come under criticism, from goverment, and stockholders alike. AMd lacking in credibility has nothing further to loose and can only advance in regaining credibility. Sanders five year plan was to position AMD to produce 20 to 30 million chips @ asp $50.00. He seem to be better positioned in the trenches than Barret who appears to be looking for the trench...more
