Let me start off by saying that I too am pretty upset with Etrade. They have cost me quite a few dollars over the last week or so. But I have a few other brokers too and they have been no bed of roses either. This is reminisint of aol a little while ago. There are just too many people trying to use to few resources. The main thing that upsets me is the fact that they continue to aggresively sign up new people instead of waiting untill they catch up with their resources. This is just a temporary setback( albeit a very large setback and pain in the a**) In just a short time we will be back to normal and start getting good service again. Etrade will emerge as the best online discount broker on the net just as aol is the best online provider. They are inovators, they take chances, just like us thats what drew us to them in the first place. Their software is the best for the price(when it is working----which it usually is) where else can you get access to ipo's from a discount broker or free nasdq level 2 quotes-----don't get me wrong I've more than my share of cursing at my computer screen and phone line this week, but in a couple of months it will all be in the past especially when their new sites come on line. just my 2 cents

Lost e mail, I've gotten that from them on 50% of my e mails to them. I've only sent them a few in 1 year.

Here is a perfect example, all the time! I think a computer must answer their e mail. Worthless response, totally worthless.
I did NOT send an account application, I sent a question, another one which will go unanswered.
You can clearly see my question at the bottom.

Someday, we'll all invest this way

*******************************************

Dear Mr. Brady:

Thank you for choosing E*TRADE.

We have not yet received your account application. Once we receive your new
account application and, if all the information is in good order, your
account should be open and activated within one to two business days. If we
have any questions regarding your application, we will call you at the phone
number you provided within four business days.

However, your account may already be open. Here's how to check to see if
your account is activated, if you used the online application:

1. Log on to our web site using the User Name and Password that you chose
when you filled out the online application. Go to etrade.com and
click Log On.

2. Click either the "Trading" or "My Accounts" tab.

? If you see a message saying these are customer-only features, your account
has not yet been activated.

? If your "Trading" or "My Accounts" tabs load, your account is activated
and you can now access all the customer-only features of the E*TRADE Web
site. Please note: If you wish to place a trade, you will be asked for your
Trading Password. This is the same as your Log-On Password.

You should receive a welcome kit from us about five business days after we
activate your account. This package contains important information about
your account - including all your access codes and a handy user's manual,
our "click-by-click guide to online investing."

Even before your account is activated, you can begin to use E*TRADE's Web
site to access useful information. You have immediate access to almost all
areas of the site, including E*STATION, E*TRADE's 24-hour assistance center.

E*STATION contains an online Tour that allows you to navigate the site and
learn about its powerful features, a Learning Center where you can find
useful information and answers to your investing and account questions, and
a Service Center where you can send us electronic service requests.

We hope you enjoy and profit from your relationship with E*TRADE and we look
forward to serving your financial needs for many years to come.

Sincerely,

E*TRADE Customer Service

I had an order in to buy 50 shares of xxxxx at 130, which was the low of the day.
I never got a confirmation of expiration or a buy. It would be nice to know either way.
