II Peter 3 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. God's desire for all people is that they should be saved, so much so that He sent His beloved Son as a means to attain that salvation. Try to imagine, if you are a parent, willingly giving up your own child's life so that someone else could live. Then imagine that person saying to you, "You didn't have to do that, I had a better way." Turning down God's plan of salvation by Jesus Christ is essentially the same thing.
