Ice: First, I think this is the Etrade CEO's email:ccotsakos@etrade.com Also, these are valid Etrade.com email accounts: marketing@etrade.com service@etrade.com support@etrade.com accounts@etrade.com marketing@etrade.com appeal@etrade.com At least all of those addresses accepted my emails and were not bounced back. Your point is critical, in fact I think it is our trump card! On our own as investors with Etrade it is impossible to get good service and we run into situations where we are taken advantage of. However, if ALL of these problems can be lumped together the evidence against Etrade is HUGE. To be honest I was literally sick all night after this happened and furious the next day the more I thought about the Etrade rep. lecturing me. I am curious about two things. 1) If Etrade had waited 10 more minutes to act in my margin account, I would have had a net gain of 12,000 instead of a net loss of 8,000. In that case, would they have still been jerks about it? Would they have said, we are sending you a check for the 12,000 you made today because of our mistakes? Somehow I wonder. In fact, one think I have noticed is that Etrade tends to "correct" trading mistakes when it will be to their advantage to do so. (i.e. filling a limit sell at 64 when the stock opens at 66) 2) What kind of business are they running where this sort of thing can happen (i.e. an 800,000 dollar position on 14K of equity) I am a software developer and it seems to be that putting in safeguards is not a difficult thing to do. Also, I have the trade records to prove this happened that they mailed me. Of course I can't get in touch with them or get to my account be I do have the hard copies. I really appreciate the comments. As I mentioned I have been a "good" Etrade customer, generate 10K + in commissions, was a Power Etrade customer, and have NEVER been accused of irresonsible trading until that day. (And my record in this regard was spotless too at my other brokerage account) Good luck to you. I am looking forward to seeing this to a conclusion.
