This was a an article over five pages in the Wall Street Journal Interactive Addition with the gist being:
1.Every major car company has entered into the National Low Emission Vehicle Program.
2.Big oil is starting to set up infrastructure to provide service for these vehicles.
3.Hydrogen fuel cells are already operating six buses in North America.
4.Fuel cells are considered as being the best bet for replacement of the ICE source of power.
5.Congress is is supporting alternate fuel programs.
6.Some emphasis indicating methanol is the way to go.
Perhaps someone will give you a better run down on this article authered by Matthew F. Gallagher.
Off suject. I am strongly in favor for development of fuel cells, and enjoy reading the pros and cons on this board. However when differences degenerate to "tis so, taint so" and name calling . and personal attacks it loses much of it's value. In my seventy-nine years on this earth, I have come to believe that to make a point by using profanity or personal attacks is a sign of a weak argument or loss of self confidence which does more harm to the user of these tactics then good..

Global Thermoelectric (GLE-TSE) expects to have their production prototype fuel cell ready this month. Their stock started to climb this morning after a long period of low volume. They are targetting remote power generation rather than automotive applications like Ballard's.
