GENERAL MOTORS CORP said that its estimate for 1Q North American
production remained unchanged at 1.473 mln units. GM's estimated
production is up 98,000 units or 7.1% from actual production of
1.375 mln cars and trucks in North America in the 1Q of 1998. The
world's largest automaker said it expects to manufacture 767,000
cars and 706,000 trucks in the three months from January through
March, up from 673,000 cars and 702,000 trucks in the first
quarter of 1998. For January alone, GM said it produced 240,000
cars and 211,000 trucks for a total of 451,000 units in North
America, up 59,000 units from January, 1998. (Reuters 04:17 PM ET

From Yahoo msg board: DELPHI DISTRIBUTION

According to news articles, 465 million shares will be distributed to
GM stock holders. If you divide the current number of GM stock
which is 654.5 million shares by the 465 million distributed Delphi
shares you arive at a ratio of .7105. Therefore if my thinking is
correct you should recieve .7105 shares of Delphi for every share
of GM you own. If this is correct and you immediately sold your
shares of Delphi at the current price of 18 7/16 you would recieve
an instant 15% return. Of course, there is no way of knowing what
the future price of Delphi will be. However, It seems to me that this
is a win for GM stock holders. If the Delphi price remains in the 18
dollar range I think I will accumulate GM stock this year on the
dips. It is my oppinion that this is probably one of safest returns on
money for 1999. I would welcome any intelligent, analytical
responses to my calculations and opinions. Good luck on investing
to all.
