JFieb: Fascinating find! Now if I could just translate it to English....
It sounds like progress is being made to standardize the software for SAN management. Everyone seems to be working together.

DWDM would be a natural way to enlarge the pipes.

When the Brocade CEO talks about public carriers and service providers involved with SAN management and SWITCHED FC webs over public backbones, he is talking about MCI/Worldcom, ATT, et al. Those are HUGE accounts and would require HUGE, fault-tolerant switches such as made by Lucent, Ascend, Cisco, Nortel. None of these big boys are in to FC at this time, as far as I know. The future is going to be very interesting for FC switch makers....... IMHO wj

WDM-FC

I also have a problem understanding the last paragraph.
I know what WDM is but how WDM/FC is related to the
carrier back bone?

BTW - Kudos to the ANCR Board

From the MRVC Board:

As far as research is concerned, the MRVC board is a close second to
the fine folks at the ANCR board. (and we didn't have to contend with
pink to get to $1/sh.);)

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at ANCR. I was trying to get
a fiber channel raid array set up for a customer last year. But I could not get the necessary drivers for that particular unix OS.

I can't wait for more standards and general product availability..
