Guys,

I must be stupid about such things but I thought it was relatively common for secondarys to result in inventory to the underwriter. No? I always presumed that it was a method of supplying on a load level basis.

Best,
Stitch

Carl, re

The fact that Merrill has eaten a lot of shares means that eventually they will have to place those (i.e. sell them) as well, limiting upside potential from here.

Pure speculation on my part, but I disagree. The only reason that Merrill would accumulate shares is that they expect the share price to increase significantly. Remember, there wasn't much dilution. The # of shares issued has not been increased that much; most of the shares came from individuals.

Earnings are due out Tues, 4Q book/bill was 1.2, a very large order to RDRT was booked in January, their semi equip business is about to take off with 300mm fabs soon to be announced. I think Merrill knows what they are doing and is taking a position (as opposed to just trading, buying at the bid and selling at the ask).
