Mohan, A serious question: How do you have access to all that information. I need to know in case you go on vacation or something. Next, an anecdotal story about computer usage in Indian state govt. offices. I went to pick up my nephew's birth certificate in the Calcutta Municipal Office. Well, they are all hooked up and what used to take the better part of a day now takes about the same time that it takes to get a driver's license in Boston. More importantly, people are very enthusiatic about the computer use. One glith was that they had the printer in a different room than the signing authorities, I pointed out that instead to keeping a runner/peon they just need to get the wiring done and they were actually listening. Quite a lot of difference won't you say from 10-15 years back? My mom has been planning to get on the net as well. Changes are coming fast. -Apratim.
