From this I surmize that the video card from STB will fit, STB says that it will work with Windows 95, and my 486,,,so far so good.

Agreed..not guaranteed<g> Just put the STB dual monitor card in the PCI slot that now has your Jaton card.

Now,,If the computer has these 3 PCI slots, and it does, Would it be possible to install a pentium chip ?

I don't know that one has anything to do with the other..except..perhaps they started arriving in the same time frame.

For other reasons I do not think it will work. The chipset on the mainboard will probably not support a Pentium chip. If you want to upgrade to Pentium you should get a new mainboard.

Would a "slower than todays speed pentium" be better than the 100mhz that the now 486 runs ?

YES You would notice a significant difference..across with almost every aspect of the system IMO. Todays 'speed' PII 450 is $500. You can pick up a Celeron 300a SLOT1 for less than $100. The 300a, even if not overclocked will be SIGNIFICANTLY faster than a 486 100Mhz.

What will "go faster" the downloads from my stockmarket data provider ? ,,,The uploads to my broker ? ,,,(I thought that this is dependent on the modem only),, but am I wrong ?

You should notice an overall system performance increase. Download and upload speed is modem dependent as you indicate. If you try to download a large file and it takes ten minutes with your existing modem, it will take ten minutes with the same modem and a faster CPU.

Your ISPs connection to the Internet is also a significant bottleneck..often the limiting factor. If you are waiting several seconds or more for a page to start to load it is the ISP not the modem.

You will still see a significant increase in speed with a faster processor. I can not tell you all the reasons..I just know from experience. I do not even like surfing with a Pentium 90..It is like surfing in molasses compared to my Pentium 200.

Keep in mind that I am satisfied with the speed of the system the way it is ,,All I want is 2 monitors, so I can open the data provider and the broker at the same time.

Then the STB card should work for you. No money lost..you could use the card with a new setup when you decide to upgrade. It is a good idea to hold onto your existing system as long as you can bear the pain.

If you open up more applications than you do now with your one monitor system you will see a performance hit. Open all apps you want to use in the dual monitor system to see if you will suffer a performance hit. The new video card will probably give you a small performance increase..it probably has faster RAM.
