Mudcat, you should, in a perfect world be right. But it is not a perfect word and you are wrong. Yes, I accept as a given that people buy stocks because they think they want to make money. Those who really do that are momentum players who will buy anything as long as it it is going up. Some of us like to think we have a reason. We like to think we understand something that others don't. We, get entranced by a good story. Biotechs offer a one. While it is the wrong way to make money many of us become involved . "emotionally" with this area.

On a practical side, the investors, that do keep buying these stocks are contributing to the development of new drugs. Their purchases support the stocks at a higher level than they would be without them and enable the companies to raise a bit more money than they otherwise would. I would say that investors that buy biotechs, when they are not in a bull market are probably contributing far more to the development process than they themselves would care to admit. So my question is, why when their investments have emptied their pockets or at least reduced their stash, (of cash) would anyone make such an effort to try and take away the one thing they probably did do?

Good Ole Mudcat,
Good evening

<<. You and Bob had absolutely nothing to do with Lgnd getting approval for ONTAK or Panretin. >>

I never said I had anything to do with Ligand getting approval for Ontak or Panretin. And save your time trying to find a post where I did, because I know what I say! I made a post to you trying to bring a bit of sarcastic humor(not degrade anyone) while at the same time providing a peek for those on the thread as to what areas of disease are being targeted by research. Cancer for one is beeing heavily targeted, and these efforts will undoubtedly one day provide many forms of cancer treatment.

<<You bought Lgnd to try to money, plain and simple (although few of us have made money). If you want to help people, make donations or volunteer your time to worthy causes, don't try to claim your helping people by investing in a companies stock. >>

For the record, I bought Ligand for an investment. As for your suggestions of good will towards man, I do volunteer at a clinic about monthly that sees 70 to 100 people per clinic that are unable for some reason to obtain health care otherwise. It is made up of 4 to 6 Dr's, 6 to 10 nurses, 1 pharmacist, and several clerical workers per clinic. Also, I will be glad to point out at this time that I have never claimed to help anyone by investing. And if you want to try to find where I posted that, you can save your time, for again I know what I havn't stated.

Now ole muddy one, go whiz in someone elses corner, because I don't want to defend myself against malice that is unsubstantiated by individuals bent on validating a mute point of who can whiz the farthest. That game is for little boys who were either very spoiled or got no attention at all and I fall outside both realms.

VERY SINCERELY,
Greg
