I have bought several books from AMZN and been very pleased with the price and service. However, my thoughts at the time were that gross margins must be very low to sell at these prices, because in many cases they beat the major bookstores' prices (I've never looked at AMZN's financials). I don't think there is much of a markup in books anyway. I just don't know how long this can go on because they simply have got to cover their S, G & A cost. It seems like they will have to sell a lot more books.
