(Can you imagine AutoCAD turning into AutoQuake?) Face it, Scumbria, KNI is much more robust than 3DNow. I'm sure you can pull a Jerry Sanders and argue that the peak floating point performance of both 3DNow and KNI will be identical. But considering that KNI will add eight 128-bit architected registers plus cache-streaming enhancements, which of the two do you think will actually achieve that peak performance for longer periods of time? Scumbria: "AMD has had incredible success penetrating a marketplace dominated by a giant monopoly with tons of cash. Give the management of AMD some credit for their success." AMD has had as much as 30% of the x86 market, in the not too distant past, and at better profitability too. I don't see why you think they are doing such a good job. My microprocessor knowledge is negligible, I am only judging the company on how well it delivers on its business plan. You really can't believe AMD is performing well, can you?
