Sam,

<<Or maybe I am allowing the fact of owning stock in this company to obscure something really obviously negative about its prospects.>>

I don't think so and instead think you are right on the mark. I have been coming to a thought that one of the reasons for QNTM's slide is a lack of clarity about who or what they are. One reason for this is that maybe they have not decided yet. I can never forget that they negotiated hard to have DEC take the DLT out of the deal back when they acquired the assets and that QNTM felt the jewel they were really going after was the now denuded head mfg. arm.

Best,
Stitch

<<"Geez, this management
must be stupid if they are burying the value of DLT in the drive business, look at, e.g.,
STK, for a comparable value".>>
Didn't we already know that from the heads fiasco (giving them the very generous benefit of the doubt on five plus years of uninterrupted losses to horrendous losses in the high end).
Three potential DLT concerns:
-Perhaps DLT 4000 and 7000 will slow as people await Super.
-I hear 4000 outsold 7000 last qtr because it is so hard to get rated performance out of the 7000. (Maybe we should all be looking at at Mammoth II which avoids the DLT prblems when operating below spec).
-Potential very low priced competion approaching for 4000 performance.
-Maybe DLT timing is slipping.
