off topic, learning from history?

Just because I've done okay doesn't mean I
haven't had my share of disasters...here
was last year's trade gone bad...swebf.

SoftQuad, swebf, did a name change,
now it is NewKidCo, NKCIF
quote.yahoo.com
as of right now, the thing is back up,
considerably above where I had bot in.

If I could have held on long enough (since last
September) the critter did finally come back (I
don't know if it will stay up, but I could have
at least gotten out of the position these last
few days, if only I still had my shares...)
NewKid peaked at a buck fifty.

ah, to think I once had 30k shares at around
1 1/8ths...but I got shook out, sold all
the way down to fifty cents and took a bath.

battle scars

So...when do you get shook out, when do you hang
on for dear life? I bring this up because my basis
in cnsi is 20% above where the thing is now, not
good, but I'm hanging in there...

Poet: I know the perils of earnings plays all to well. I too like to play earnings releases and sell the day before. There are certain issues that I would not be caught dead in regardless of the numbers that are to be expected, other issues I am fairly comfortable with. NM is one of those issues that if I was holding, I would have no fear about the earnings report. One it trades on the NYSE, two, they have not been hyped and remain somewhat depressed compared to others. I don't think, even bad earnings will affect this stock much. Definitely risk reward though, and each person must strike that balance.
