wily, the fact is that Waterhouse only started doing this perhaps 9 or 10 months ago. It was a conscious policy change on their part, so under staffed and not monitored are not likely. I'm inclined to think that it has to do with the line in your link that says "Calculating Margin For Day-Trading And Cross-Guaranteed Accounts" and that the account is designated a 'day-trading' account, and those at the browser based brokers are not. Of course, I'm speculating. Barb
