>>had the .03 been left in the account, Datek would have had to have generated a statement every month in perpetuity. I let them keep the last .01 in my account

Well, now, Barb, first, think how much of a high-prestige item
an .01 check from Datek would be. Nobody'll ever beat it
and even if they tied, you were first <g>. Second,
you have to OPEN that statement every month (do you dare
not? what if they've debited your account 9.95 for a
check order in, say, 2003?) <gg>. Third, suppose after a
long enough time they pay you .01 INTEREST on that balance.
Now you get a 1099 ..., or maybe your heirs (well, maybe
their heirs) <ggg>. Fourth, what if the feds decide
to investigate strange accounts under the "know your
investor" rules? ... it's happening in banks (:. Fifth,
well, it bloody never ends, does it?

Nawp, got my checks (.03 from one account, .09 from
another), got my zero balances, done with it.

Of course, I'm not cashing the checks .... <GGGGG>.
