Actually it does figure, and that is exactly the consideration you need to understand. Basically, what it does is to try to get a handle on total revenues through the period. For example, a 20 % decline in ASP from the previous period is a decline in the end point from the beginning point. In other words, assume for the moment a quarter with a 20 % decline. That might translate to ASP of 2000, 1800, 1600 for a hypothetical quarter. Using the $1800 figure is much more resonable than using 1600. Now throw in seasonal factors and its easy to end up with a mass of seeming contradictions. That's the problem with interpretation of partial data.

Furthermore, using Bestbuy as a source of data is highly questionable.
