that only means you're shifting the problems of testing and manufacturability to the motherboard

DRDRAM bus speeds seem to be sinking in the real world. Last I heard we were down to 600 MHz for most applications. Nobody knows if the infrastructure can really support high MHz DRAM. The K7 route may be more practical.
