Was this article about Sony and the others making their own chips the first anyone's heard of this? Will this really come as a complete surprise to Wall Street and cause Q to sell off on Monday? The article that Michael posted was from Friday's issue of Electronics Buyers News. Why would Sony announce the new chip in this manner, rather than wait until next week's trade show? Did Sony announce it after the market closed on Friday?
