Let me answer that question by posing another. In an internal combustion engine, does the sparkplug fire when the points come open or when they close? How does the electrical charge build up within the circuit? How is it dissipated? What prevents the spark from jumping the point gap at any time? Use a classical coil air-gap point system to illustrate your answer. 30 marks.
