Chromatix and VeriSign Partner to Provide Customers
with Robust and Secure E-Commerce Foundation

COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 9, 1999--
As part of its continuing strategy to ally with industry-leading
partners in the secure electronic commerce arena, Chromatix today
announced that it has partnered with VeriSign by joining the VeriSign
Partner Program.

Chromatix integrated its flagship SafePages Directory Product
Suite with VeriSign's OnSite 4.0 PKI platform in late 1998. The two
products are already in use together at customer sites, including
Johnson & Johnson.

"Distributed, secure directories, such as Chromatix SafePages,
are an essential element in the widespread deployment of public key
infrastructures," stated Thomas Llanso, President and CEO of
Chromatix. "Our partnership with VeriSign in this rapidly growing
marketplace benefits organizations who require seamless integration of
PKI and directory technology."

The SafePages Directory provides a secure repository for VeriSign
certificates, as well as access to the certificates via the
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). Clients wishing to
verify digital signatures or encrypt information can retrieve the
appropriate certificates from the directory.

Since the directory provides natural and extensible distribution,
such clients can be located anywhere in the world, thus facilitating
global e-commerce and secure communications.

The companies are also working together to enable VeriSign
certificates as the basis for strong authentication of clients to the
directory itself. SafePages already supports X.509 strong
authentication with smart card technology.

"VeriSign's OnSite product suite coupled with the Chromatix
SafePages Directory Product Line provides our customers with a robust
and scalable foundation for secure electronic commerce," states James
Brandt, Director of Federal Markets for VeriSign. "We are pleased to
have Chromatix in our partner program, as we believe their secure
directory products are an ideal match for OnSite, especially for our
customers operating in high assurance environments."
