I'm starting to assemble the pieces for a new computer system myself. I just bought a 19" monitor dirt cheap via Buy.com (http://www.buy.com/bc/noframes/product.asp?sku=367152). I'm waiting until the Voodoo3 comes out (for my videocard) and I'm sure that there will be great prices on Celerons by then as well (maybe even a PII or PIII but I don't think that I do anything that needs that type of processor).

WWW.AGN3D.com pointed me to the monitor deal (under $200 with shipping). Buy.com does this every once and a while. They have a somewhat mixed reputation as a vendor (they charge your credit card right away, for example, not when a product ships), but if the item is in stock they tend to be a good deal. The price may vanish quickly (if it's an error), but they tend to honor existing orders.

I've been reading about all the new video cards. So far, the V3 seems to have all the features I would want and the price seems like it will be good. I haven't seen any TNT2 specs (peculation is that it will be what the original TNT hype was), the ATI Rage Fury looks good but it is much slower than the V3, I'll wait and see on the Savage4 (S3 doesn't have the greatest track record), and Permedia3 is an unknown.

OT - Machine build

Nice machine... now you got me thinking about another 128meg dimm :P. I was thinking about the eyescream's but was concerned about compatability with V3, as well as the posibility of going to an LCD display which I think rules out the eyescreams also. BTW... running my 300a at 450 right now, not a problem at all, completely stable. Check out the Supermicro 750a case, for the overclocker I don't know of a better case. Same as the case used for the boot magazine yearly system. Right now it has 5 fans in it not including the powersupply fan.

BTW... a couple links for the builder in us all

shopper.com great starting point for parts

anandtech.com great reviews and a comprehensive guide how to build a computer (pretty good)

sharkyextreme.com great information site on 3d accel & gaming front... also has lowest weekly processor price list

abit-usa.com BH6 motherboard!! looks like the new Rev 2 BX6 is a little unstable, stick with the BH6.

advancedcomputech.com Truely is "THE" case!
