Mary, one thing to consider about any tech companies outlook is management has a very strong incentive$ ( stock options) to project a highly optimistic outlook on any situation. I wasn't interested in the markets in the late 80's but I wonder if Novell's executives said anything along the lines that MSFT would pose a serious threat to them -besides the standard legalease boiler plate in the 10k that covers almost any possible contingency. I'm a nice "young man like Mike Burke" but younger with good intentions -g- . Human nature tends to make people expect the future to be like the recent past. Linear expectations in a non linear world but the economy is cyclical bad times follow good times. Mike

Mary:
Ok, here's another approach: Call HWP or anyone connected with that firm and ask. Management at Intel is well known for being "prickly" about employees who are even mildly critical.
