Mohan: Let's look at some numbers!! Do you remember your Reply# 91761 ("https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=7510636") regarding Dell's sales in India?

In the article, the writer mentions that Dell had "revenues hitting the $20 billion mark in 1998." IF, and this is a big IF, the writer is correct in his/her research, then Dell's 4th quarter sales would exceed $6.931 billion. [$20 billion-{$3.920 bil(Q1)}-{$4.331 bil(Q2)}-{$4.818 bil(Q3)}=$6.931 billion]. We know there is an offset of one month given that Dell's FY ends at the end of January. However, this calculation includes January 1998 sales which, we can assume, would be lower than January 1999 sales. This means this should be reasonable.

The lowest net income during the last 2 years has been 7.6%. Using this figure would give us a net for Q4 of $527 million. This would then calculate into a EPS of $0.41 on 1.2723 billion outstanding shares. The First Call analyst estimate for Q4 is $0.31. This should be a really great earnings report!! Of course, there are no guarantees and everyone should do their own homework!

Do you know of any way to confirm the $20 billion figure in the article? Do you have any additional thoughts or comments?
