<"It is a shame, IMO, that the longest continuously-surviving political party in the history of democracy may have only half a dozen honorable men left in it. But a 45-Democrat acquittal would be much more of a stain on that once-respectable party.">

Agreed, CYBERKEN. Good post.

My late parents and the majority of my relatives, who were lifetime Dems, would be ashamed and shocked to see the depths to which their party has sunk during the last decade or so.

If the character of today's Dem party members reflect that of the general population, this Republic is doomed.

Good post cyberken.......i fear it will take history to recognize the stain left by this smallness in the white house......if you believe the polls only 15-16% of the population is actually paying attention to this mess......it has become the party of meaningless words and no concept of shame.....

<< As of today, the consistantly-wrong establishment media is making estimates of how many Republicans will cross the line to acquittal by Friday. >>

There are news services that are totally supportive of these Radical Republicans, and news services that are supportive of the President Clinton and the rule of law.

I tend to turn the channel when faced with anti Clinton news services. Just what do you consider the "establishment media"?

A free press is a must for a democracy to survive. Every time I hear someone wanting to see the news restricted or someone advocating news censorship I shudder!

It will be a sad time for this country if censorship is imposed over the news because the news doesn't reflect a radical group's "truth".

<< But a 45-Democrat acquittal would be much more of a stain on that once-respectable party. >>

I disagree. If, as I believe, that Ken Starr spent $50 million and 6 years and came up with nothing, and the only thing that Clinton's enemies were able to invent was a perjury trap, then the Democratic Party would be shown to have withstood an unAmerican attack against an American President, stood firm and saved our Constitution and our Democracy!

Thanks God for the strength and ethics of the Democratic Party!
