Read the March 1999 issue of Car & Driver, see page 23 for an article about "remember the energy crisis". It talks about what the "experts" were saying about oil in 1974 and look what happened. I still say that a lot of the hype and misinformation about Y2K is similar to what the media was saying about the "energy crisis" of 74. While there were problems with the oil embargo and such, during this time, the doom and gloom predictions never came true.
