ONE SMALL STEP FOR MICROSOFT ONE HUGE LEAP FOR Q KIND.

I guess we are starting to figure out the reasoning behind the WirelessKnowledge Joint Venture . . . (see article below)

By the way, MSFT also mentioned today (2/7/1999) that it is restructuring with an eye towards the Internet. They are even bringing back Brad Silverberg, a fellow who has been on an extended leave of absence from the company since June 1997. This fellow supposedly left due to differences over MSFT's Internet strategy. HMMM, anyone see the connections to the just announced BT joint venture? Cheers.

LONDON, Feb 8 (Reuters) - British Telecommunications Plc and
U.S. software giant Microsoft are set to announce a venture to provide customers with wireless access to the Internet, the Financial Times said on Monday.

The newspaper said neither company was prepared to comment, but added that they were in talks on Sunday night. This was expected to lead to a detailed agreement, the Financial Times said. BT was unavailable for immediate comment.

Microsoft was expected to announce the venture at a wireless industry conference in New Orleans later on Monday and it would mark the company's debut into the UK telecoms market, the Financial Times said.
The deal is seen challenging the Symbian joint initiative between Motorola (NYSE:MOT) of the U.S., Ericsson (SWED:LME.B) of Sweden, Nokia (NYSE:NOK.A) of Finland and Britain's Psion (ISEL:PON). (k.equities.news@retuers.com))
