NOV has a "cloudy" earning forecast for at least 6-9 months with some debt that must be paid off. Given those factors, it looks like $ losses are a real possibility. Is that enough to justify the low price? That is the $64K question.

IMHO, there is not much more downside risk that can be gotten out of this. Long term, NOV has some solid businesses that are #2 in the country (in terms of revenue?) They had over $1B in total revenue not too long ago. There has been talk of selling some divisions but this has been recanted by recent comments from NOV mngt. Long term it is attractive to me at these prices. DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK AND PROFIT!

For what it's worth, the Yahoo thread seems to have some good info on NOV if you can stand the peripheral chatter.

PS Watch out for the bottom when INTC starts to fall.

Jim

I don't know what the "restructuring charges" were for. Usually this reduces expenses and should make the payoff of the bond (certainly a better play than the stock) a bit more secure.
