Rocky (aka The Gimp),

>>Since Iomega is giving Flop! drives away for free..<<

I didn't read anything here about Iomega giving the drives away.

agfahome.com

Are you sure Agfa isn't buying Clik! drives from Iomega and then giving them to customers who buy their 1680 digital camera?

I finally watched Sony's Godzilla last night. A complete waste of time and money and the sound editing really sucked - much like your beloved HiFUD and SyQuest.

But Rocky, you said IOMEGA is giving away free drives. This link makes it look like I have to BUY an AGFA camera to get a drive. Where can I get the free drive from IOMEGA ?

RE: Free Clik! Drives from Iomega?

Rocky,

>> This is costing Iomega plenty, and shows their desperation. <<

Can you show me where Iomega is paying for these rebates? Every single rebate I've seen from Iomega had a mailing address of "Young America, MN". Like Microsoft, and a number of other large companies, Iomega uses the Young America Corporation for rebate fulfillment. This rebate you mention has an address in "Randolph, MA". Agfa receives some mail there (Agfa Educational Publishing) and has an office 30 miles away in Wilmington.

It looks like an Agfa-sponsored rebate to me. They must be pretty desperate to make their products "more valuable" to their customers.

How good (or bad) is the Jazz and Zip? Can they crash and devour any disks put in the drives? My question arise because of these two stories (no idea if they are malicious rumours or the truth). My own Zip and Jazz are still working perfectly, so far. However, if these stories were true, I need to take steps to get a second backup.

1. I just heard today that there has been documented cases of Zip drives failures that result in loss of data in the disk (caused disks to be damaged), and there was a subsequent class action lawsuit that was settled out of court?

2. Has there been any similar story (or cases) where the Jazz drives are malfunctioning the same way? I noted an ebay seller who is totally disgruntled about his jazz drive: cgi.ebay.com
