An overwhelming laud of love. I find it very hard indeed to conclude that Jesus did not think of love in its broadest sense, and think that loving one another meant making love to one another, hugging, kissing, even penetrating one another. Why did Jesus love to have Mary Magdalene be with him. Did they separate at night and go to their lonely beds? Why did Jesus cleave to John whom he was said to love. Did they always sleep separate?
Love is not a shallow sentiment but demands everything there is to give. The idea that Jesus was a repressed nonsexual person is denied by everything we know of him, everything he said. Would he not be tempting us to sin if he believed that love stopped with a holy kiss. He should have told us -- love everyone but never touch them, never kiss them carnally, never make love the way nature made us to make love.
Thanks for the quotations -- they have made my day.

Dear Dan,
That is how we are Holy in the NT we are seperated by the love we have in Jesus. 1 Cor. 13 is the definition of that love,
1 Corinthians 13 (charity is the same as love).
4: Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5: Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6: Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7: Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8: Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9: For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10: But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11: When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12: For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13: And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
Can anyone on these threads put their name in these verses. I can't get far before I ask the Lord to forgive me and fill me with more of his love. You can laugh with me,
Nancy suffereth long, Nancy is kind, OOPS!!!
May the Lord bless you,
Nancy
